Called Out to Govern.

Though the Greeks invented this word, it was really the Romans who adopted, developed and implemented the ‘Ekklesia’ and its function into the heart of their empire.

The Ekklesia was brought to surround the Roman Emperor/king to hear and his words and assist in governing in every city and conquered region.

They were to work in conjunction with the Emperor to see that his will and desires were being implemented across his kingdom. It functioned as the legal ruling assembly of a city, meeting 40-50 times a year to lead and govern.

Ekklesias were regularly summoned to actively participate in legislation, declare war, make peace, negotiate treaties, make alliances, elect officials, and more. This is how we as the Ekklesia are called to function, as rulers under the supreme Ruler – King Yeshua.

Ecclesia or Ekklēsia,
“gathering of those summoned”

"Its roots lay in the agora, the central meeting place in each populous."

We are called out from the kingdom of darkness to gather around our King in nearness and intimacy. Then, under His authority and in partnership with Him, we are commissioned to obey and act upon what we heard in His presence.

Yeshua declared He would build His Ekklesia upon the revelation that He was the Christ.

In other words, “You have seen Rome’s Ekklesia function in governmental authority under their king, but now is the time to establish My Ekklesia, of whom I am the head and King, and the gates of hell will not be able to stop the advancement of My government.”

This means the church (Christ’s Ekklesia) has the keys to bring heaven to earth. The Ekklesia is commissioned to use the keys to access locked gates and reclaim that which is lost again, legislating heaven to earth.

Matthew records the following words of the King.

Whatsoever you bind will be bound.  Whatsoever you loose will be loosed.

To “bind” means to “forbid” and to “loose” means to “permit.”

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19

The implication is that we are to be binding darkness.

Confronting it.  Arresting it.  Identifying it. Whatever Jesus arrested, confronted, bound, has overthrown and cast down. It is conquered in Jesus. What sin, what evil, what darkness, what has set itself to harm mankind. If we are not busy in aggressive – intentional agreement with Jesus we are lazy and deceived, we are part of the problem.

The implication is that if we are not arresting darkness – binding darkness, expressing the dominion of Jesus, it won’t be expressed.

We are also to be loosening (releasing, allowing, calling to be) the goodness of Jesus, the promises of Jesus upon the righteous.

The idea that the promises of God are not for this life is such a deception. The promises of God has been released upon Jesus. If we are hidden in Jesus, the promises of reigning, and the promises of ruling, blessing and favor belong to you. If the curse has been overcome, then it is meant not to be absent in a vacuum.

Let’s get understanding! Let’s step into our place of authority and reign from Heaven with our beloved!
