I’m sure that we share the same feelings over disablement. Disabilities are grievous, and when we have our own it harms our ability to help others. Disablements just shouldn’t ought to be. Every limb, every finger, every joint was meant to work in synergistic harmony.
Just as sure as the enemy brings disablement to people, he also seeks to bring disablement to the body of Christ. The church is meant to be a body of believers joined together for synergistic harmony, and Satan hates that. He is working his devices to produce a disabled Church. It’s through the church, the synergistic body working in harmony, that the authority of Jesus is seen in the Earth. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 3:10. God’s purpose in all of this was to use the church to display his wisdom and its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the spirit realm.
Let me give you this verse out of the New International Version:
Ephesians 3:10 – His intent was now through the church the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in Heavenly places.
You see this power when we operate in unity and in that synergistic harmony. It’s then that the manifold wisdom of God is revealed through us and we begin to conquer rulers and authorities in the spirit realm.
This is why Satan hates the church. We are in the bride of Jesus, the ones who bear His image, the ones who represent Him in the earth.
First, Satan seeks to isolate God-appointed leaders from their God-appointed flock. Scripture shows clearly that we have callings one to another just as surely as Barnabas and Timothy were called to Paul. Just as surely as Elisha was called to knit his life to Elijah. Just as surely as Jonathan was called to David and David called to Saul, there are God-appointed relationships for every season of our lives. The Bible is full of these “called” relationships. Thus, we can conclude we aren’t supposed to shop churches or leaders. We should instead ask God, “Who have You called me to knit my life to in this season?” We shouldn’t choose a church based on our preferences: we should choose a church based on who we are called to. Once we get a direction on the leader we are called to, then we protect that relationship with all our being, for surely Satan would love to strip away that confidence.
We’ve lost this truth in the church, and it’s harming us as a people. God calls us to leaders and calls leaders to us.
Lord, we ask for your revelation of this truth to come upon our hearts with divine clarity. Lead us and guide us so that Christ will be fully developed in our local assemblies.
